We are excited to host the Future of the Federal Reserve Symposium on February 5-6, 2026.
This two-day symposium will bring together leading scholars, practitioners, & former government officials to examine the legal and institutional foundations of the modern Federal Reserve—and the forces reshaping its role in American governance.
Hosted by the Michigan Law Federalist Society, in conjunction with The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and the Michigan Law Digital Assets Law Association, the symposium will explore how courts, Congress, and financial markets are redefining central banking amid increased constitutional, political, and economic scrutiny.
Through a series of panels and conversations, participants will engage core questions at the intersection of constitutional law, administrative law, and financial regulation, including the Supreme Court’s treatment of the Federal Reserve, the future of central bank independence, and the growth of shadow banking and alternative monetary systems.
The symposium will culminate in a keynote conversation between Randy Quarles, former Vice Chair for Supervision at the Federal Reserve, and our very own Professor Chris Walker.
